What is a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse? A Credentialed Mental Health Nurse is a specialised Nursing professional who has successfully met the credentialing criteria in relation to: Registration, Education, Practical Experience, Professional Development, and Professional Integrity. The Australian College of Mental Health Nurses Credential is the only nationally consistent standard for recognition of specialist mental health nurses. The credentialing process recognises that Credentialed Mental Health Nurses are experts in their field. This recognition enhances the quality of Mental Health Services for individuals, caregivers, and families, and showcases the specialised capabilities of the mental health Nursing workforce. Can I get a rebate through Medicare? Not currently as I haven’t registered for a Medicare provider number at present.

Do I need a GP referral? No, you can self refer to this service, however we do like to collaborate with all health professionals that are a part of your healthcare team, so your consent to do this will be requested in writing.

Are you registered as a Counsellor or a Psychologist? No I’m not a Counsellor or Psychologist with any registerable body. I have, however, undertaken many short courses with certificates, and participate in many webinars to continue to build and enhance my clinical practice.

Do you see individuals with an NDIS package? Yes, I do see individuals with an NDIS package, however please reach out via the contact MyndLIfe Journey page for further information.

Do you work with people via Workcover, EAP, TAC, Private Health Insurance? Unfortunately none of these organisations recognise the qualification of a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse as being able to provide under their respective registration requirements. I have, however, been able to provide psychotherapy for a couple of these providers, it does require some negotiation on your behalf, and may require some supportive documentation to achieve this outcome.
